Toon Boom Harmony Release Notes: What's New in Version 21.1

Loading a keyboard shortcut set can sometimes cause default shortcuts to stop working, which can be frustrating for users who rely on them. One such issue occurs when navigating down the hierarchy with Shift+B and reaching a Transformation Switch node. However, this release of Toon Boom Harmony brings a host of exciting fixes and improvements that will enhance your overall experience.

In this version, we have updated Qt classes and function names to use Qt6 naming conventions, reflecting changes in the Qt API used by Harmony from version 4 to version 6. This update also requires Python 3.9 or later to be installed for the Python bridge, as well as updates to Python scripts that utilize the bridge. Similarly, the JavaScript Python bridge has been updated to support Python 3.

In terms of visual improvements, the content of both Stage and Camera views is now displayed at each screen's native resolution, fully supporting Retina and HiDPI screens. Additionally, the macOS version of Storyboard Pro is now compiled as a Universal 2 binary that runs natively on either Intel processor or ARM64-based Apple silicon Macs.

It's also important to note that there are some changes related to licensing. Licenses from servers using earlier versions of Harmony cannot be used to run Harmony 21.1, and studios that use a license server will need to upgrade their license server to Harmony 21.1 or Storyboard Pro 20.1. Although licenses from Harmony 21 can still be used to run Harmony 21.1, the server running the license server must be upgraded to Harmony 21.1 to support client workstations running Harmony 21.1.
